INTERNATIONAL REVIEW OF ROMAN LAW-NEWS

This outstanding Collection, promoted by the director of the BOE at the request of the Ibero-American Association of Roman Law (AIDROM), forms a cultural heritage of great interest to any jurist and historian of legal science, showing in each and every one of its eleven volumes -some of them, divided into volumes- the investigations presented over twenty-five years of national and international congresses of the AIDROM.

The methodology based on the Dogmengeschichte as a way to start the study of Roman Law from the founding of Rome to the current codification without jumps or selection of institutes that inspired Professor Fuenteseca and suggested to his disciples, added to the need to face the interpretation of the positive norms based on the formulation of the legal institutes that have been created and articulated from the origins of Rome to the present time, is the background that guides the Ibero-American Association of Roman Law, whose members annually celebrate their congress.

Aim of this Collection is to continue to be expanded year after year, so it is not a closed study block; Quite the contrary, as has been done during all these years, it will continue to be the purpose of AIDROM to highlight the historical evolution of legal institutions in the various stages of their validity with the elements that have served to integrate them, adapt them to the social reality of each moment and modify them, so that they serve in the conformation of the current Law.

Every year, therefore, progress will continue and work based on the study of matters ranging from public law to inheritance, through personal law, process, real rights, obligations, without forgetting family law, will continue to see the light. the criminal, the commercial, etc.

On November 5, at the Faculty of Legal and Labor Sciences of the University of Vigo, the International Seminar of Roman Law will take place: Ius et animalia.

The «Gérard Boulvert Society for the Study of European Civilization and for the History of its Legal Systems», in agreement with the Journal Index and accepting the invitation issued by Italian and foreign institutions and scholars, announces the Twelfth Gérard Boulvert International Prize in Roman Law. This award aims to encourage the development of research in Roman Law and to recognize, in the name of Gérard Boulvert, the works of young scholars of all nationalities published in the preceding three years.

The deadline for submitting the application for said award ends on December 31, 2021

“Mundus et commercium” is the theme chosen for the celebration, from January 5 to 9, 2022, of the LXXIV Session of SHIDA, under the auspices of the Law School of the Pontifical Catholic University From Chile.

The Collegio di Diritto Romano, organized by the Centro di studi e ricerche sui Diritti Antichi dell’Univesità di Pavia, directed by professors Mantovani and Pellecchi, will take place from January 10 to 28, 2022.

CONFERENCE: THE DIGEST AND THE CODE OF JUSTINIAN AND THEIR MANUSCRIPT TRADITION

Within the framework of the Research Project For. Ma. The subject matter of study, central axis of the communications and presentations presented, revolved around the "Current survival of Latin legal aphorisms”

On the occasion of the VII centenary of the death of Dante Alighieri and with the scientific advice of the Institute of Classical Studies "Lucio Anneo Seneca" of the Carlos III University of Madrid, from July 1 to October 2, the National Library of Spain they have carried out diverse conferences, as well as exposed a series of manuscripts, in particular of the Comedy and its tradition.

The seminar “OTIUM. Letteratura e società nella Campania romana -I sec. A.C-I sec. dC "taught by Professors Basile (Università degli Studi di Napoli" Federico II ") and Mastro, (Università della Campania" Luigi Vanvitelli "), was carried out on June 15, within the activities of the Institute of Classical studies “Lucio Anneo Seneca.

On June 25, Prof. Sebastiano Tafaro, Ordinary of the Roman Law dell'Università degli Studi di Bari Aldo Moro and Prof. Onorario dell'Università Italiana, with the sponsorship of the Italian Association of Classical Culture of Bari and the Università degli Studi di Bari, pronounced, after the presentation of the President of the AICC of Bari, Prof. Vozza, the Lectio magistralis “Family: Filii Familias, Mulieres, servi”.

Professor Manuel Jesús García Garrido passed away on January 14. After practicing as a teacher in Badajoz, he simultaneously studied law at the University of Sevilla, where he received his bachelor's degree and his doctorate. Disciple of Professor Álvaro D’Ors; teacher, among others, of professors Fernando Reinoso Barbero and Federico Fernández De Buján. Rector of the University of Santiago de Compostela and first rector of the UNED, promoted the creation of the University of Extremadura and the UNED center in Mérida. Roman law professor with an international dimension began his training under the guidance of Ferdinand de Visscher. Later, he studied postgraduate studies at "La Sapienza" where he received the teachings of the eminent professors such as Betti, Arangio-Ruiz, Volterra or Dell´Emilia, among others, being a promotion partner of many other prominent Romanists such as Filippo Gallo, Dieter Nörr, Theo Mayer-Maly, Mario Talamanca and Giuliana Foti Talamanca. Jurist, politician and businessman, the Professor was appointed knight of the Royal Orders of “Alfonso X El Sabio” and “San Raimundo de Peñafort”. Rest in peace.

With great regret, Professor Tafaro, after receiving the call from Professor Bronisław Sitek from Warsaw, reported the death of Professor Wołodkiewicz, which occurred on February 13. His loss was immediately regretted, among others, by Professor Valditara, who highlighted his great quality as a scholar, as well as Professor Miglietta, who highlighted his work for the restoration of democracy in Poland and his great contribution to Roman Law. Academically linked to the University of Warsaw, where he received his bachelor's and doctorate degrees, he was a co-founder of Polish legal romanticism, a specialist in classical Roman law, ancient and European culture. He taught at Italian and French universities; member of the Scientific Council of the Universities Centro Romanistico Internazionale in Naples, Catania, Messina and Catanzaro. Rest in peace

PROPOSAL TO PROF. HAMZA FOR THE PRINCESA DE ASTURIAS AWARD IN ITS SOCIAL SCIENCE MODALITY.

The President of the Magyar Tudomanyos Akademia of Hungary, in accordance with the decision of the Presidency of the Academy for the Princess of Asturias Award, has proposed Prof. Hamza for the awarding of such an illustrious Prize, in the modality of Social Sciences.

Jean-François Gerkens, in December 2020, announced the inevitability of the postponement of the next sessions of the SIHDA due to sanitary restrictions. The purpose of holding them in Santiago de Chile in January 2022, and in Brussels and Ghent in September 2022 persists.

The Faculty of Law and Social Sciences of the National University of Comahue and the Research Project D-O4 / 122, directed by Professor Alicia Ares Nogueira, organized the V Patagonian Congress of Roman Law”, with the aim of contributing to new knowledge adapted to the present, exchanging advances of different research projects and experiences between national and foreign teachers and professionals. Professor Jean-Louis Ferrary has passed away. He was a historian and philologist and a prominent specialist in ancient Rome. Since 1989 he was the director of the École Pratique des Hautes Études, Section des sciences historiques et philologiques (Institutions et idées politiques du monde romain), and a prominent member of the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles Lettres. He was a rigorous scientist, an excellent person and the driving force of the Centro di studi e ricerche sui diritti antichi (Pavía), together with Dario Mantovani and Michel Humbert.

In the II ciclo de Letture romanistiche (2018-2020) organized by ELR, the 18th of September 2020, in the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano, called by Lauretta Maganzani, Luciano Eusebi will discuss with Alessandro Manni his work ‘Poena constituitur in emendationem hominum’. Alle origini di una riflessione giurisprudenziale sulla pena (Napoli, Jovene, 2017).

The “Curso Internacional sobre experiencias de innovación docente e investigación en la era digital” has taken place, from 23 to 25th of September, with a duration of 22,5 hours, in the Aula Magna of the Law School of de University of Oviedo, directed by Carmen López Rendo, tenured lecturer of Roman Law, and María José Azaustre Fernández, assistant lecturer of Roman Law, as academic secretary. All participants and speakers were internationally renowned experts.

The seminar "Introduction au sources du droit romain", sponsored by the École Française de Rome, will take place in June 2021. The course will be for young researchers in Roman Law, in History of Rome and in the Middle Ages, philologists, archaeologists, and other scholars of the ancient world in the second year of a Master’s degree, doctoral students, and for those who have freshly obtained the doctorate degree. On April 18, Enrique Gómez Royo passed away. Professor Emeritus of the University of Valencia, his beloved University where he graduated in Law, obtained his Doctorate and completed a large part of his cursus honorum, along with the University Jaime I of Castellón. A regular at the Leopold Wenger Institut of the University of Munich and the Max Planck Institut für Europäische Rechtsgeschichte, as well as the University of Groningen, he was able to train and collaborate with eminent Byzantists such as Professors Dieter Simon, Spiros Troianos and Scheltema. Those who have known Professor Gómez Royo affirm that he is a "Master ex auditu, ex lectione and ex devotione"; "A cultured person to the end, with an excellent command of classical Latin and Greek, a first-rate humanist culture and, most importantly, a tremendously kind man in the Socratic sense of goodness." “An endearing person with a way of understanding academic life, away from fads and fees, to the use that, from the small Greek agora that was his office, transmitted to endless generations that eternal truth that affirms: we are the Greeks". RIP

MATTEO MARRONE HAS PASSED AWAY

On April 8, in Palermo, Matteo Marrone died. He was Emeritus of Roman Law of the Atheanaeum of Sicilian capital, where he was teaching as the illustrious continuator of the Palermitan Romanist school, from 1956 to 2004 (with the interval of one academic course at La Sapienza). Disciple of Professor Lauro Chiazzese, he was Rector of the Faculty of Law of the University of Palermo from 1976 to 1985 and Dean of the Athenaeum in 1998 and 1999. Professor Marrone, the undisputed point of reference of the national and international scientific community, was also President of the Società Italiana di Storia del Diritto; President of the Associazione per la ricerca storica e comparatistica; member of the Società Italiana di Storia Patria di Palermo and the Accademia di Scienze Lettere e Arti di Palermo. Among other awards received, in February 2014, he was presented with the International Award conferred by the Fundacion Seminario Derecho Romano Ursicino Álvarez; an award whose purpose is to distinguish jurists with exemplary personal careers, such as that of Professor Marrone, in whose written work Roman Law occupied an essential role. Professor Marrone came to write about his master, who died unexpectedly at the age of 54, that at his funeral, Marrone recounted, an immense and silent number of people attended, as a symbol "of the rimpianto e dell'impronta profonda che l'Uomo lasciava di sé". Matteo Marrone has died at the age of 90 in a compulsory silent funeral due to the exceptional circumstances we are experiencing, but also leaving a deep mark for having been, as he came to be described, the greatest living heir to the formidable romanistic tradition palermitana. In the framework of the series of conferences “Daily life and norm in Rome”, on February 7, Professor Wallinga (Erasmus University Rotterdam / Univ. Of Antwerp) and Professor Mateo (University of Cantabria), on February 28, gave their lectures on “Ambitus in Roman Republic. Electoral corruption in society and law”and “Slaves and liberti in Rome. Their position in daily life and law”, respectively. CANCELLATION OF THE ANNUAL POLISH-SPANISH CONFERENCE ON THE EUROPEAN LEGAL TRADITION

The XI Annual Polish-Spanish Conference on the European Legal Tradition that this year was to have been held at the Faculty of Law of the University of Barcelona on May 8, unfortunately has had to be canceled due to the state of alarm decreed in Spain, without any possibility of being carried out in 2020.

SUSPENSION OF THE XXII INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS AND XXV IBEROAMERICAN CONGRESS OF ROMAN LAW

The next AIDROM Congress that on "Current survival of Latino legal aphorisms", was to have been held on August 26, 27 and 28, 2020 in Buenos Aires (Argentina) has been suspended. Likewise, it has been agreed to postpone it to 2021, if circumstances allow, keeping the same subject, number of Congress, probably the date, and at the same University. The AIDROM Board of Directors conveys to the Open Inter-American University, venue of the Congress, a sincere thanks for all the efforts for its organization, as well as its understanding of SUSPENSION, with the hope that next year, once the global pandemic caused by the COVID19, can be hold the traditional meeting of AIDROM.

LXXII CONFERENCE OF SIHDA

The 72nd Session of the Société Internationale Fernand de Visscher pour l’Histoire des Droits de l’Antiquité (SIHDA) is held at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. The next edition of the Congress of the Ibero-american Association of Roman law (AIDROM) will be held in Porto, Lusiada University, from 21 to 23 March. The theme chosen as the central focus of study and discussion is "LOCATIO-CONDUCTIO: INFLUENCE OF ROMAN LAW ON CURRENT LAWS”

On 19 May, the First Seminar of the Research Project "The Byzantine Author" was held at the Facultad de Filosofía y Letras of the University of Valladolid, under the direction of Professors Juan Signes Codoñer and Francisco Javier Andrés Santos.

The event was attended by professors from various universities (Valladolid, Deusto, Castilla-La Mancha, Cagliari, Milano-Biccoca, Patras and Burgos) and was organized around two sessions: “About Roman Law in Byzantium”, and the evening session about Classical literature and Byzantine literature: continuity and breaking off”

On the occasion of the 80th birthday of Prof. Labruna, on 30 May, the XXIII edition of the Forum of the Association of Young Historians of Law was dedicated to "Law and Humanities: points of view of the world of Law through History". This session took place in the Universitat degli Studi di Napoli Federico II.

The area of Roman Law and the Institute of Classical Studies 'Lucio Anneo Séneca' organized the Seminar dedicated to Latin declamations, on June 9, at Carlos III University. He had the lectures of Professor Antonio Stramaglia (Università degli Studi di Bari Aldo Moro) and Professor Luigi Pellecchi (Università degli Studi di Pavia).

71th SESSION OF SOCIÉTÉ INTERNATIONALE FERNAND DE VISSCHER POUR L’HISTOIRE DES DROITS DE L’ANTIQUITÉ

La liberté et les interdictions dans les droits de l'antiquité was the central topic of the Congress LXXI of the Societé Internationale Fernand De Visscher pour l'Histoire des Droits de l’antiquitè (SHIDA) that take place from 12th to 16th September 2017 in Bologna and Ravenna.

In the area of the Interdepartmental Center "Vincenzo Arangio-Ruiz", in collaboration with the Consorzio Interuniversitario Gérard Boulvert and the Centro di cultura romana del diritto e dei sistemi giuridici contemporanei, held from 18 to 24 September, the course of summer "The roots of the European legal culture. Old texts and documents, between language and law ".

At the Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro, on 6 October, was held the International Interdisciplinary Congress "I Bonfante. Una storia scientifica itialiana ", organized by Network ELR - European Legal Roots, with the purpose of examining the contribution offered by Pietro B. (1864-1932), Giuliano B. (1904-2005) and Larissa Bonfante (daughter of Giuliano and granddaughter of Pietro, 1931), to the Italian and international culture.

At the initiative of the Institute of Classical Studies "Lucio Anneo Seneca" of the University Carlos III of Madrid, on October 11 was organized the Workshop: “IURA MONARCHIAE. The political thought of Dante, between Antiquity, Middle Ages and Modern”.

On October 18, Professor Capogrossi's Itinera (Collana Iuridica Historica, No. 4, Edizioni Grifo, Lecce 2014) was the backbone of the interdisciplinary cycle "Incontri di storia e diritto", organized by the Interuniversity Consortium Gérard Boulvert and the Associazione Internazionale di Studi Tardoantichi.

Professor Rodríguez Ennes is invested D.H.C. by the University of Flores, on October 27, in a solemn ceremony as the culmination of the Fourth Congress of General Principles and Roman Law, held in the aforementioned Argentine University.

The Seminar on "Women of Ancient Rome" was held in the Museum of the Roman Theater in Cartagena on 26 and 27 October. Participants included members of the IVRA RvB research group, who promoted this seminar, which included a multidisciplinary team linked to different Spanish universities, international and national museums.

The Center of Studies and Research of Ancient Law of the University of Pavia organizes the XIV Collegium of Roman Law with the following argument: The Theodosian Code: Compilation, Transmission, Reception.

On 23th January, in Palencia, let us Professor Daza at 86 years of age. He studied theology at the Pontifical University of Comillas and completed his legal studies at the University of Oviedo, the Sorbonne in Paris, Strasbourg, Rome and Munich. Professor of Roman law at the universities of Alicante and Madrid.

Author of numerous scientific works. One of his last published work was in the second issue of the RIDROM (2009): the review that will take place from the monograph of his disciple and daughter of his master “La función jurisdiccional civil en Roma. Cuadernos de Derecho Registral, Madrid, 2008”, the also Professor of Roman law, Mrs. Margarita Fuentesecala review that will take place from the monograph of his disciple and daughter of his master.

His “Iniciación histórica al Derecho Romano”, essential tool for generations of Jurists, as well as their translation of the work of Volterra “Instituciones de Derecho Privado Romano” and his “Instituciones de Derecho Privado Romano”, whose authorship is shared with Professor Rodríguez Ennes, are evidence of his pedagogic vocation.

We do not want, finally, get rid of the conception that Professor Daza had University and that expressed in the second issue of the Review “Alternativas. Cuadernos de Trabajo Social” (1992) from the position that was then as director of the same and which serves as a reflection of the role that everyone must play in it:

Professor Antunez, Professor of Roman law at the Faculty of law of the University of San Marcos, died suddenly, on March 31 th. He also taught teaching at the Universidad de Lima and the University Garcilaso de la Vega.

Among his numerous works highlights their “Apuntes romanísticos” (Edit. San Marcos, Lima, 1996). In addition to lawyer and University Professor, also highlighted in other facets, from the business sector to the cultural.

The Academia Matritense del Notariado and the Fondation Seminar Roman Law Ursicino Álvarez held on 27th February, on the occasion of the 5th centenary of the birth of D. Antonio Agustín and the I centenary of the birth of D. Juan Iglesias, the awards ceremony of the international prize Ursicino Álvarez to the Hon. Mr. D. José Manuel Pérez-Prendes Muñoz-Arracó, Emeritus Professor of the Complutense University of Madrid.

Prior to the Act of such a prestigious award, were given the conferences "D. Antonio Agustín Albanell (1517-1586)" and "The romanística complutense of the 20th century (1880-1987), by professors Cuena and Paricio, respectively

In Barcelona, from 5 to 7 April, took place the Congress of the Ibeoramericana Association of Roman law (AIDROM), which was attended by a large number of Romanists from diverse national and international universities, whose work focused on the theme: " Fundamentos romanísticos del actual derecho de sucesiones”

The Emeritus Professor of Roman law of the Universidade de Vigo (Spain) and Dean honorary of the Faculty of law of Ourense, D. Luís Rodríguez Ennes, has received in honor of DHC be conferred by the National University of Comahue (Argentina), on April 27.

On the 25th of February, Professor Panero, magnificent professional and jurist capable of combining his teaching job along with research and management of the university, passed away.

Proof of this fundamental pillar in the profile of every university professor is having carried out his duties between the University of Barcelona, along with his great teacher Professor Latorre, and Lleida, as an invited professor, in the Abad Oliba Center of Higher Education and in the Faculty of Law of ESADE, not to mention his conferences and lessons given in various universities, in Spain as well as abroad, or his leadership of a Teaching Innovation group.

His research profile is marked not only for having been the Director of a research group for years in the University and for having been the teacher and guide of various research theses; but also, the fruits of his abundant research will forever be reflected in the studies that cover “Observations on the primary meaning of capitisdeminutio” (1976) and “The formation of juridic concepts” (2006), not to mention his “Roman Law” (1997), or “The legal experience of Rome” (1998), among others.

Furthermore, in the area of management, he held the position of Secretary of the Hiring Committee, as well as being Chair of the Government Commission; he was a member of the Faculty Committee, of the staff and Vice-president of Division two: legal and social sciences; member of the Advisory Council of the International Studies Center (CEI) and of the Managing Committee of the Latin American Association of Roman Law on behalf of the Romanists of the Catalonian Universities, as well as of the International Center of Commercial and Real-Estate Record Law, among many other accomplishments which prove his constant dedication and infinite effort.

Among other activities and mentions, where should having been the holder of the mertiesportiu medal from the Universitat de Barcelona, as well as his thirty participations on boards for theses and appointments be placed?: In any case, all these actions demonstrate his love and dedication for the cupidalegum Juventus (RIDROM [on line]. 7-2011. ISSN 1989-1970. p. 1-75. <http://www.ridrom.uclm.es>) to which, like a good teacher, he dedicated his teachings.

Professor Fermín Camacho Evangelista passed away on November 30th, 2015, in Granada, at the age of 81.

Grandson of a lawyer and engineer, he wasn’t sure of what educational path to take, although in the end he selected Law as his chosen field. He carried out, after his studies, part of his academic activity in Munich, Frankfurt and Brussels and was a visiting professor in universities of Switzerland, Italy, the United States, Mexico and Saudi Arabia.

He went on to become a full professor of Roman Law, first in Cordova and later in Granada. It was in this latter city where he held many academic positions – Secretary General, Faculty Dean, Department Head- ; political positions – Deputy Mayor of Granada, as well as the cultural city councilman and member of the Advisory Board of Andalusia- and will be known for having been the first secular President of the Royal School of San Bartolomé and Santiago.

Additionally, he was the cofounder of the “German Hispanic Cultural Association”, he participated in the foundation of the first association of hispanic-chinese friendship created in Spain, in addition to the “Center of Historic Studies of Granada and its Kingdom”, organization of which he was vice-president.

As part of this scientific legacy, works of note include the one completed about “Iusnaturale” in the Roman legal sources (1962); the Foundation of Rome and transition of the Monarchy to the Republic (1976)- that served as a base to pick the topic up again in 2002 to publish: The hypothesis of the royal son-in-law: the foundation of Rome and the monarchy-republic transition; his Roman Jurists and jurisprudential practice, together with Professor Carrillo de Ablornoz (1987); as well as his teaching manual “Roman Law Course” (1989).

The Dipartimento di Giurisprudenza of la Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, within the Progetto di Internazionalizzazione dei Corsi di Studio Coinor/Compagnia di San Paolo, organized a Cycle of Lessons on Roman Marriage Law and Social History from the 23-25^th of November 2015, dedicated to Professor Tullio Vigorita, of which Professor Thomas A.J. McGinn from Vanderbilt University (Nashville, Tennessee), was in charge.

THE HIDDEN STRUCTURE
A new appreciation of Juristic texts
And Patterns of thought in Late Antiquity

The workshop “A new appreciation of Juristic texts and Patterns of thought in Late Antiquity” took place in the University College of London in two sessions which were held the 4^th and 5^th of December, 2015.
Organized by the directors of the Volterra Project, Professor Benet Salway from University College London and from the Redhis Project, Professor of the University of Pavia, Dario Mantovani, it had a high level of participation among not only members of projects – among others Professor Carrasco from the University Carlos III of Madrid, professors Ammirati and Fressura from the Unversity of Pavia, and the professors from University College London, Salway and Corcoran-, but also invited professors from other universities – Professor Metzger from the University of Glasgow; Stolte from Groningen, or Puliatti, from the University of Parma, among others-.

On December 17th 2015, in the Faculty of Law of Eötvös Loránd Unviersty, fue was presented the volume “Ad geographiam historico-iuridicam ope iuris Romani colendam. Studia in honorem Gábor Hamza”, in the ceremony homage to Professor Hamza, for his 65 th birthday and for his life devoted to science and study of Roman Law.

In the ceremony, with the vice-dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Varga, took part prof. and members of the Hungarian Academy of Scienes, la Harmathu ands Vékas, and their editors, Prof. Földi, Sándor y Siklósi.

In the framework of Progetto di ricerca di rilevante interesse nazionale directed by Professor Masi Doria, L’autorità delle parole. Le forme del discorso precettivo romano tra conservazione e mutamento (PRIN 2010-2011), took place in the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, on December 17^th 2015, the aforementioned international congress in which invited speakers participated such as, among others, Professor Cotton of the Hebrew University of Jersualem; Professor Stolte of the University of Groningen, and Professors Alonso and Rodríguez Martín from the University of the Basque Country and Complutense of Madrid, respectively.

The Madrid Academy of notary and the “Ursicinio Álvarez Roman Law Seminar” foundation awarded the International Ursicinio Álvarez prize, in the Notarial School of Madrid, to Professors Baldus and Casavola on the 15th of February, from the universities of Heidelberg and Federico II of Naples.

PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK “WOMEN IN TIME OF AUGUST: SOCIAL REALITY AND LEGAL IMPOSITION”

“Women in time of August: social reality and legal imposition”, the collective work coordinated by Professors Rodríguez /Bravo dedicated to the Professor of Roman Law in the University of Valladolid who disappeared five years ago, MariLuz Blanco, was presented the 31^st of March in the Law Faculty of the University of Valladolid.

The touching ceremony was attended by the Presidents of the University of León, José Ángel Hermida – husband of the dear missing colleague - ; the University of Valladolid, Daniel Miguel San José – President of the University in which MariLuz did her teaching – and the President of the University of Burgos, Alfonso Murillo – President of the Association of Roman Law-; colleagues of the University of Valladolid; Professor Torrent, her teacher, as well as the coordinators of the collective work, some of whom were authors that participated in it, relatives and friends of Professor Blanco.

On the occasion of the publication of the interesting study “La valutazione possibile. Teoria e praticanel mondo dellaricerca” carried out by Professor Bonaccorsi, the roundtable “Per una valutazione possible nelle scienze umane e sociale” was organized on the 4th of April, with the support of the Consorzio Boulvert, of the Centro Arangio-Ruiz and of the Dipartimento di Giurisprudenza della Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II.

Professor Labruna was in charge of the presidency and after the introductions of Professors De Giovanni, Masi Doria and the interventions of Professors Cascione, Calise Palora, Rubino and Zoppoli, the actual author, Professor Bonaccorsi was able to examine, alongside his participants, the principal theoretical and empirical arguments contrary to the evaluation of the research activity.

Professor Torrent received on April 20, at Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid, in a ceremony presided by the Rector of the University, a sense recognition of his extensive scientific and academic career, reflected in the publication of a tribute book where has participated a significant number of professors, mainly from Roman law, international, and legal scholars, who wanted to pay tribute.

A Book Homage that was presented at the same act for their coordinators, Murillo and Castán, as well as Calzada and attended by a large number of his disciple, colleagues from other disciplines as well as representatives of the College of Notaries and Registrars of Madrid, family and friends.

The publication " Studia Varia ". Book Homage to Professor Luis Rodriguez Ennes occasion of his seventieth birthday " was presented on April 22 at the Provincial Council of Pontevedra, in the act of homage to Professor for " a lifetime devoted to knowledge and research. "

The act, chaired by Ms. Carmela Silva, President of the Provincial Council of Pontevedra, attended also among colleagues, family and friends, Lawyer and Academician of the Galician Academy of Jurisprudence, Mr. Modesto Barcia Lago, and Ms. Margarita Fuenteseca, Professor of Roman law at the University of Vigo, both directors of the book, as well as Professor Musemeci, of the Università degli Studi di Catania”.

The seminar on “Public funding: roman experiences and new models” was held on the 16^th and 17^th of April at the University of Turin and was organized by Andrea Trisciuoglio, Roman law professor at the University of Turin.

On the 18^th of May, thanks to an initiative by Professor Labruna, the Law Department of the University of Nápoles Federico II commemorated the disappearance of Professor Guarino with a “Giornata di studi” in which Lectio Magistralis was funded by Professor Nicosia; the Relazione, by Professor Di Salvo. In addition, Manfredi, dean of the above-mentioned university, as well as the Director of the Department, Professor De Giovanni and the Director of the Interdepartmental Center Arangio-Ruiz, Professor Masi Doria contributed to the project.

INTERNATIONAL SEMINARS OF THE PRIVATE LAW DEPARTMENT AT THE CARLOS III UNIVERSITY IN MADRID

The Area of Roman Law and the “Lucio Anneo Séneca” Classical Studies Institute organized the seminar “Traveler texts: the cases of the Theodosian Code and the Digest of Justinian” on the 15^th of June. Professors Salway, of University College London, and Wallinga, from the Universiteit Rotterdam – Universiteit Antwerpen Erasums program were those in charge of the scheduled presentations, of which Professor Coma Fort, on behalf of his teacher Professor Paricio, deserves special mention.

Roman Law Professor of the University of Amsterdam, Johan Albert Hans Ankum, was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Murcia on the 23^rd of June. The Laudatio was pronounced, in name of the missing Professor Díaz Bautista, by Professor Juan Ramón Robles.

SEMINAR AT THE CARLOS III UNIVERSITY IN MADRID: “THE LATIN DECLAMATIONES: LAW AND LITERATURE”

Organized by the Area of Roman Law and the Classical Studies Institute “Lucio Anneo Séneca”, the Seminar “The Latin Declamationes: Law and Literature” was held on the 19^th of October. Professor Balbo, from the University of Turin, and Professor Marta Bettinazzi, from the University of Pavia, were the invited speakers who discussed the topics studied in the same university.

With the title “Influsso e rilievo della giurisprudenza e della codificazione italiane nei paesi dell’Europa dell’Est”, Roman Law Professor from Eötvös Loránd University and ordinary fellow from the Academy of Hungarian Sciences, Professor Gabo rHamza, lead “Giornata di studio” on the 29^th of October in the Hungarian Academy in Rome.

The Centro di situdi e ricerche sui DirittiAntichi, CEDANT, at the University of Pavia, is organizing the 13^th “Collegio di Diritto Romano”, from the 11-29^th of January 2016. The CEDANT, lead by professors Babusiaux, from the University of Zürich, and Mantovani, from the University of Pavia, propose the topic to be “Le Istituzioni di Gaio: avventure di un bestseller. Trasmissione, uso e trasformazione del testo”.

On the 17th of March and at the age of 45, José María Coma Fort passed away. He was a professor of Roman Law at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and was qualified by some to be the best Spanish Romanist and one of the most widely recognized European Romanists of his generation. Born in Zaragoza, he completed his studies of Law in the Universidad Complutense where he was also a professor for 25 years and as his teacher Professor Paricio put it, he was one of the most loved teachers by students and staff of the Law Faculty. As a student of Professor Pérez Prendes as well, some of his most well-known works were “Commented index on the sources of collections of the Corpus iuris civilis” (2008) or his recent “Codex Theodosianus” (2014), winner of the Rafael Altamira award. For him, following the advice of Quintiliano, teaching was a sign of affection toward his students, the transmission of secular knowledge, like Roman Law and the History of Law, one of the highest honors that a person could aspire to, with his testimony and example reached, according to those who knew and admired him, with talent, rigor and determination. Rest in peace.

He who was a student of professors Meyland and Kunkel, and at the same time, professor to Vigneron and Gerkens, Professor Sturm passed away on the 14th of March at the age of 85. He studied Classic Antiquity and Law in the universities of Tübingen, Lausanne, Genoa, Bologna, and Heidelberg. He was a professor at the University of Lausanne, the same one from which he received his doctorate and later retired, although he also taught at other universities. Honorary professor of the Law Faculty of the University of Lausanne, D.h.c. from the University of Liège, and among other merits, awarded the first class Bundesverdienstkreuz from the German Republic. This gives us an idea of the dedication and good work carried out by Professor Sturm in his numerous studies, from the very first Abalienatio, which was published in 1957, until his contribution to the study published in volume 23 of the Schriftenreihe des Rechtshistorischen Museums Karlsruhe for the Jahre Badisches Landrecht published in 2011. Rest in peace.

The Roman and Civil Law professor, as well as the Director of the Roman Law and Comparative History of Law Institute of the Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Bonn, gave a master class for the Course of Institutions of Roman Law, organized by the Department of Private Law and History of Law at the University of Milan about “Adempimento/inadempimento dell’obbligazione nella prospettiva del creditore”.

ANTONIO FERNÁNDEZ DE BUJÁN JOINS THE OFFICIAL ORDER OF ALFONSO X “EL SABIO”

The Roman Law professor from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, full member of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation, as well as the Galician Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation, Professor Antonio Fernández de Buján, has joined the Civil Order of Alfonso X “El Sabio”, with the rank of Encomienda con Placa, awarded by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, according to Order ECD/2454/2014, the 19th of December.

Coordinated by Professor Randazzo, last Feburary, a year after the Seminar with the same name took place in the Italian Università LUM Jean Monnet, the volume “Religione e Diritto Romano. La cogenza del rito” came to light, a voluminous work with more than 500 pages in which works from young researchers as well as internationally renowned studies are collected, about the correlation between law and religion in Roman Law.

Professor Hamza, professor of Comparative Law, Roman Law and Eastern European legal systems in the Law Faculty of the University “Eötvos Loránd” in Budapest gave a conference on the 24th of March called “Codificacione e ricodificacione del diritto privato nei Paesi dell’Europa dell’Est nel contesto della tradizione del diritto romano”, in the frame of the Conference Cycle organized by the professors from Istituzioni di Diritto romano e Fondamenti del Diritto europeo, part of the Dipartimento di Giurisprudenza of the University of Sassari.

The Ibero-American Association of Roman Law (AIDROM), which now has a new president, Roman Law professor and Rector of the University of Burgos, Dr. Alfonso Murillo Villar, held their annual congress in Bologna from the 26th to the 28th of March, entitled “Law of obligations: the importance of Roman Law in the era of legal globalization”.

III INTERNATIONAL DAYS OF ADMINISTRATIVE, ENVIRONMENTAL AND FISCAL ROMAN LAW

On the 7th and 8th of May, on the Luigi Einaudi Campus, main office of the Law Department of the University of Turin, the III International Days of Administrative, Environmental and Fiscal Roman Law, under the direction of Professor Dr. Antonio Fernández de Buján will be held.

The Spanish Society of Classical Studies (SEEC) will hold its Congress this year in Barcelona, from the 13th to the 18th of July, under the national presidency of Professor Ruiz and the organization of Professor Borrell, president of the Catalonian section of the SEEC.

The professor Antonio Guarino has passed away on the 2nd October. Little time before, on the past 16^th May, he could have a heartfelt homage from his family, friends, and disciples in his “master very short century” celebration, as professor Labruna said, along with, and according to his vital experience, he concentrated the practice and theoretical knowledge in an incredible way which gave him the capacity of understanding the human being. He was magistrate, lawyer, journalist, professor, senator, a master of the textual exegesis able to intertwine strict texts from the Corpus iuris with Ovidio´s verses, as Labruna said. He constantly looked for Law, for the solution of a problem, for the decision according to justice. His continuous worry for working as “il mestiere del giusromanista” and his calling for solving the case “giving to each one his/her due” should be an example for all of us, not only for going on in our educational and researching work, but also for going ahead in our lives.

Professor Fernandez Barreiro passed away on 14^th October. He was a recognized professor of Roman Law, politician and lawyer. He got his degree at the Santiago de Compostela University where eleven years later got a Roman Law chair. Once set up, he moved to La Coruña University where became General Secretary and Dean in the Law faculty, at the same time that Public Law department Director. He was numerary member in the Galician Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation, parliamentary and Xunta Counselor. He was the author, among others of: “La previa información del adversario en el proceso privado romano” (1969); “Los estudios de Derecho romano en Francia después del Código de Napoleón” (1970); “La frustración de comparecencia por intervención de un tercero” (1972); “Presupuestos de una concepción jurisprudencial del Derecho romano” (1976); “Derecho común y derechos nacionales en la tradición jurídica europea” (1991); “El factor jurisprudencial como elemento de identidad de la cultura jurídica europea” (1998), or “Estudios de Derecho procesal civil romano” (1999). Together with professor Paricio, he also published “Historia del derecho romano y su recepción europea” (2010). Rest in peace.

“L´ENIGMA DEI PRESTITO DOCUMENTATI KATÁ PISTIN A NOME ALTRUI NELLA PRASSI DEI PAPIRI”, is the title of the seminar that professor Alonso Rodríguez gave in the Universitá degli Studi di Napoli Federico II on the past 10^th May. This seminar took place under the wing of the doctorate course in Roman Law and Romanistic tradition: basis of European Law.

In the setting of the Consorzio interuniversitario G. Boulvert with occasion to the book publication “Nuovi profile instituzionale di dirittro privato romano” by g. Nicosia (Catania, Liberia Editrice Torre; 2013) on 12^th may, professor Giuffré (Napoli Federico II), Nicosia (Catania) and Wolodkiewicz (Varsovia), had a debate about “Teaching Roman Law Institutions”, being prof. Masi Doria moderator.

The Italian Institute of Culture in Budapest took in the book presentation of professor Hamza from the Eötvös Lránd Universitát. The presentation was on 14^th May, being the book´s title “Origine e sviluppo degli ordinamenti giusprivatistici moderni in base alla tradizione del diritto romano”, published by Andavira.

Due to his merits related to scientific investigation of Roman and Byzanthine Law studies, at the same tame that thanks to his history in the east European countries legal systems, professor Hamza has been distinguished for “Iura orientalis” with the “Oriens arca Iuris”award last 24^th June in the “Pontificio Instituto Orientale”, in Rome.

SUMMER COURSE IN CASTILLA-LA-MANCHA UNIVERSITY. “FORMAL EQUALITY AND REAL EQUALITY: WOMEN OF YESTERDAY AND TODAY”

This is the title of the Summer Course of Castilla-la Mancha University, which, conducted by both professors Alicia Valmaña and Gema Polo, took place last 2^nd and 3^rd June. In the Legal and Social Science Faculty of Toledo, the course gathered professors of different legal disciplines, at the same time that institutional and empresarial sphere representatives, and a huge number of students of the different regional universities campus, and people interested in the subject developed.

On the 7^TH July, the III seminar of international Roman Law took place in the Legal and Work Science Faculty of Vigo University. The seminar was conducted by professors Rodriguez Ennes and Fuenteseca. During its development several talks took place, such as professor Hamza about “The contract concept and Roman law”; Professor Mantovani, who spoke about “Legum multitudo: la scomparse delle leges publicae nel Digesto”, and professor Carrasco presenting “Una compraventa poética: HorEp.2.2”. These professors belong to Budapest, Pavia and Carlos III Universities respectively.

From 16^TH to 20^TH September took place the LXVIII Congress of the Societé InternationaleFernand de Visscherpuorl´Histoire des Droits de l´Antiquité, in the Universitádeglistidi di Napoli Federico III, being its central theme the Regulae iuris study.

The Andrassy University of Budapest, in cooperation with the foreign delegation in Hungary of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung was the place where the International congress “The influence of German legal Thoughts in Middle Europe”, took place last 22^nd October. In this congress, as organizers participated professor Anderheiden and Hamza, attended as well professors from Viena, Zagreb, Sarajevo and Arad, among others.

From 15^TH December have been organized several scientific-academic activities taking place in the Museum of Almeria about woman’s argument, from augustean Rome to present time, such a Seminar, a round table discussing, an archeology laboratory, didactic workshops and an art exhibition of roman comics. In this way, University of Almería together Counseling of Education, Cultur and Sport and the Andalucian Women Istitute have been added to international acts to the Bimillenary of Emperor Augustus death.

The Roman Law Iberoamerican Association (AIDROM) will celebrate the next annual congress in Bologna. It will be from 26th to 28^th march, and will be developed under the title: “Law of Obligations: the importance of Roman Law in the legal globalization time”.

Professor Anes, Chair of History and Economic Institutions of the Faculty of Economics in Universidad Complutense de Madrid, passed away last March, 31^st, 2014 in Madrid at the age of 82. Among its large achievements worthy of merit, these are the most outstanding: Director of the Royal Academy of History up four times; Prizes, National Prize of History in 1995; Gran Cruz de Alfonso X El Sabio Award in 1999; Gran Cruz Isabel la Católica Award in 2002 as well as the Francis Valdés Prize in National Journalism and the Rey Juan Carlos I Prize in Economics in 2006. In 2009 he was awarded the Jaime I Prize in Economics. He ran the magazine Moneda y crédito; he was member of the Alto Consejo Hispano-Francés and also received the degree of Doctor honoris causa by the Universities of Oviedo and Alicante. Mr. Gonzalo was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Museo del Prado, member of the Board of Directors of Fundación Príncipe de Asturias and member of the Council of Government of Banco de España. His prolix written scientific production reveals a profound dedication to researching and a life full of constant professional achievements, fact which makes him worthy of being remembered as “one of the greatest figures of the Spanish Contemporary Historiography and as a promoter of the academic activity specially in hard times”.

The book Opuscoli. Scritti di Gennaro Franciosi was launched last Nevember, 23^rd 2013 in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, headquarters of the Seconda Università degli Studi di Napoli. It was coordinated by his disciple, Professor Lucia Monaco and by the daughter of the honoree Professor, the Roman Law Professor, Amalia Franciosi. The ceremony took place in the Faculty of Law, decision made by Professor Franciosi himself. Among some other personalities, Professor Rosi, rector of the SUN University, Professors Calilfano and Giovanni, Chairs of the Law Department of the SUN and Federico II Universities respectively as well as Professor Piccinelli, Chair of the Department of Political Science “Jean Monet” from the SUN University attended the event. Chaired by Professor Labruna, Professors Cernigliano, Manfredini, Reduzzi, Lanza, Mantello and also the above mentioned Professors Monaco and Franciosi took part during the launch ceremony.

The Università LUM Jean Monnet and the Network European Legal Roots were the institutions responsible for organizing the “Settimana Romanistica” in Bari (Casamasima) and the Seminar “Religione e Diritto Romano. La cogenza del rito” from January 10^th to 11^th. A large number of professors of Philosophy of Law, Ecclesiastic Law and Roman Law from the Universities of Catania, Erfurt and Trento attended the event, among others.

TAKING OFFICE OF FULL MEMBERSHIP IN RAJL OF PROFESSOR ANTONIO FERNÁNDEZ DE BUJÁN

Last February, 20^th, Professor Antonio Fernández de Buján read his membership discourse titled “The historical debt of modern arbitration” in the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation. Professor Luís Diéz-Picazo y Ponce de León, full member and Chairman of the RAJL (Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation), answered the dissertation of the newly admitted member.

The collective book Direito Romano: Poder e Direito was lauched last February in the Faculty of Law in Lisbon, a joint initiative of the Roman Law Professors Eduardo Vera-Cruz Pinto, António Menezes Cordeiro, Madalena Santos, Ana Caldeira Fouto and Filipe de Arede Nunes, among others. More than sixty Romanists from different European and Latin American Universities have taken part in this work, which was published as a result of the celebration of the XV International and XVIII Ibero-American Congresses of Roman Law in Lisbon last February, 2013.

The collective book coordinated by Professor Alicia Valmaña and published by Editorial Andavira, Democracia en el Mundo Antiguo y en la actualidad, has been written by several Roman Law professors such as Armando Torrent, Santiago Castán, Gema Polo and also the book coordinator herself together with some other professors related to different legal fields such as Constitutional Law and Private International Law. It was launched in Toledo last February, 26^th 2014, by the President of the Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha, Ms. Mª Dolores de Cospedal, surrounded by a large audience, some of whom were regional political and academic representatives.

“The activity of banking and commercial businesses in the mare nostrum”, was the topic developed in the XVI International and XIX Ibero-American Congresses of Roman Law which gathered a large number of Romanists in Murcia, from April 10^th to 12^th.

INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS, SEMINAR AND LECTIONES IN UNIVERSIDAD CARLOS III, MADRID

The Professors of Roman Law of the Universidad Carlos III in Madrid, Ms. Consuelo Carrasco and Ms. Ana Mª Rodríguez, according to the activities belonging to the excellence Chair of Universidad Carlos II- Banco Santander 2013/2014 assigned to Professor Dario Mantovani, have organized a wide variety of scientific initiatives such as the Seminar about “L’identità del soggetto nel tempo, fra diritto romano e filosofía” run by Professor Mantovani next May, 5^th ; the International Congress which will take place on May, 9^th attended by, among others, Professors Mantovani, Crawford, Jean-Louis Ferrary and Martinez Neira and last but not least, the lectiones that during May and June will be led by Professors Margarita Fuenteseca, Juan Manual Blanch Nougués, Federico Battaglia, Luigi Pellechi and José Domingo Rodríguez Martín.

BOOK LAUNCH ““MULIER. ALGUNAS HISTORIAS E INSTITUCIONES DE DERECHO ROMANO”

Under the X FECIES held at Granada (Spain) the last juny was performed the simposium “Transversalidad de contenidos en el recurso docente: Mulier. Algunas historias e Instituciones de Derecho Romano” with the aim of referred book launch, that has been coordinated by the Professor of Roman Law of Almeria’s University, Rosalía Rodríguez.

Professors Reinoso and Hernando organized the Micro Symposium about juridical principles at the Faculty of Law UNED and CUNEF (Madrid, Spain) on June 27 and 28 to which attended a nurished number of italian and spanish Roman Law professors.

June 28, the Departament Seminars international private law, invited Professor Carla Masi Doria of Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, who gave the Conference “Exchanges, and disagreements in the ancient Mediterranean Multilingual Law ".

INVESTITURE AS DHC OF THE PLOVDIV UNIVERSITY OF THE PROFESSOR ANTONIO FERNANDEZ DE BUJAN

Last october 18, in the Auditorium of the Plovdiv University was invested as DHC the Professor D. Antonio Fernández de Buján. From his “Estudios sobre la Banca Bizantina: negocios en la legislación de Justiniano “( 1987), to his works for him coordinated as his “Estudios sobre Diocleciano” (2010), going by the different editions of his “Manual de Derecho Romano”, his “Cuestiones de Derecho Romano” or the docotral theses of his pupils, besides his “watercolors”, in which he wanted to reflect this “recóndito soplo de vida que contienen los objetos en lo más hondo de sus entresijos”, he showed us his committed work like jurist and man in love with de culture. Last May 11, in the Autónoma University of Madrid, took place the Seminar organized by the Professor D. Antonio Fernández de Buján "De la responsabilidad por vicios ocultos a la responsabilidad por falta de conformidad”, to which attended a nurtured group of roman Law professors of different universities. The Seminar was imparted by the Professor Garofalo, of the University of Padova who examined the evolution of the question from the Roman Law to the Directive European on consumption goods and its adjournment to the Spanish and Italian juridical legal system.

The Accademia Romanistica Constaniana organized, as it is tradition in the even years, the panel session that has for purpose to analyze the scientific results of the previous Congress, as well as the design of the International following Congress that will take place in the one 2013.

In this occasion, the celebration of the panel session in the city of Spello, during the days 27 and 28 of June, had a special development because the opening session was dedicated to the Professor Crifò's memory. This way, it was deepened in so missed Professor's scientific profile, for what their own work was divided in five thematic blocks and analyzed in depth for:

-                     Sandro-Angelo Fusco: Private Law.
-                     Giovanni Negri: Jurisprudencia and Rhetoric
-                     Nicola Palazzolo: The experience of the manual.
-                     Leo Pepe: Public Law.
-                     Francesco Petrillo: Betti’s influence and Hermeneutics.

Nelly Louzan has died in Buenos Aires, July of 2012, 24, among other positions, Vice-president of the Ibero-American Association of Roman Law and emeritus member of the Association of Professors of Roman Law of Argentine Republic. Her “Derecho e historia en Roma” (1969), “Curso de Historia e instituciones del Derecho Romano” (1979), “Derecho de familia y matrimonio en Roma”, “Derecho Civil - Parte General” (I&II), and “Teoría General de las obligaciones”, as well as their varied articles in revews of the specialty, numerous conferences and pupils, give example of their constant activity as Professor and investigator surrendered to the world of the Roman Law.

SOCIÉTÉ INTERNATIONAL FERNAND DE VISSCHER POUR L’HISTOIRE DES DROITS DE L’ANTIQUITÉ. 66^eSession

LXVI Congress of Société Internationale 'Fernand of Visscher' pour l'Histoire des Droits de l'Antiquité (SIHDA) took place in Oxford, of the 18 at September 22. Has been closed the 11º Course-seminar of Roman Law organized by the Area of Roman Law of the University of Barcelona among the days February 6 at April 16 of 2011. The Course-seminar is directed by Prof. Dr. Ricardo Panero.

The XIV International Congress and XVII Ibero-American Congress of Roman Law took place in Almería, Spain, the days 28 at March 30 of 2012. The general topic of the Congress turned on “Fundamenta iuris. Terminología, principios e interpretatio: de Roma a la actualidad".

Last April 16 was delivered the "Ursicino Álvarez" International Prize, which relapsed in the Prof. Dr. Ankum and in the Prof. Dr. Giuffrè. The above mentioned International Prize is delivered by the Foundation Seminar of Roman law Ursicino Álvarez.

March 23, in the University Carlos III, Prof. Mantovani, of Università degli Studi di Pavia, Director of the Center di Studi e Ricerche sui Diritti Antichi (Cedant) and President of the Center per la Storia dell'Università di Pavia (CESUP) imparted a Seminar on the topic "Quante erano le leges publicae nel diritto privato romano?".

January 26 2012 took place the presentation of the book "Le idee fanno la loro strada. La Teoria generale dell’interpretazione di Emilio Betti: cinquant’anni". The act, that took place lapsed a year of the painful disappearance of Prof. Crifò, author of the work, took place in the headquarters of Istituto Nazionale di Studi Romani and intervened, among other, Mario Caravale, Antonio Cervati, Achille of Nitto, Antonio Mantello, Mario Mazza, Pietro Rescigno and Paolo Sommella.

JORNADAS INTERNACIONALES DE DERECHO ADMINISTRATIVO, MEDIOAMBIENTAL Y FISCAL ROMANO

Juan of Churruca (January 27 of 1923) has died in Bilbao last day October 27 to the 88 year-old age. It made studies of classic Philology (Loyola and Salamanca: 1942 -1945) and it was graduated in Philosophy in Oña (1948), in Theology in Oña and Innsbruck (1956) and in Law in Valladolid (1951). Their specialization like romanist were forged in Graz and Bonn. He was Rector of the University of Deusto and Consejero of Education of the Basque Government. He leaves more than sixty scientific publications, especially in the environment of the relationships between Christianity and Roman world.

Graduated in Latin Letters and Law by the Federal University of Ceará, Máster of Political Science studied in the University of Río de Janeiro and the Doctorate in Law in the University of São Paulo. Author of scientific and pedagogic numerous works, was Dean of the Law school of the Federal University of Ceará.

LXV SESSION OF "SOCIETE INTERNATIONALE 'FERNAND DE VISSCHER' POUR L'HISTOIRE DE DROITS DE L'ANTIQUITE"

The XIII International Congress and XVI Ibero-American Congress of Roman Law took place in Belém, Pará, Amazônia, Brazil, the days 1 at September 3 of 2011. The general topic of the Congress turned on “O Direito de família, de Roma à atualidade".

The XIII congress of the Spanish Society of Classic Studies took place in Logroño the days 18 at July 22 of 2011. The Congress, that takes place every four years, had 310 papers and almost 500 participants.

The XXIV Seminario Complutense of Roman Law took place in Madrid the days 3 and 22 of June of 2011. In this session diverse specialists participated, as Profa. Vano, of the University of Naples, Prof. Varvaro, of the University of Palermo, or Prof. Briguglio, of the University of Bologna.

The end of his life happened in the course of the execution of his teaching work, as the leading authority on Roman Law that he will be always. It happened instants after his last student had being honored, in the same place in which the Professor taught to so many and so many jurists throughout great part of his life. Man of free thought, as few, of generosity without limits and with enormous longings of learning mainly and of all those that surrounded him. As faithful disciple of Betti, his scientific research were based on the field of the hermeneutics, the rhetoric, the history of the political thought and of the work of Vico. In 1963 he, as lecturer, imparted History of Roman Law in Rome; as in charge of Roman Law in Macerata, in 1964 and later, in 1970 as in charge of Institutions of Roman Law and of History of Roman Law in Perugia. At the University “La Sapienza” he also taught Exegesis of the sources of the Roman Law and he exercised as Professor of History of the Roman Law. President of Romance Constantine, Fellow – Institute for Advanced Study – zu Berlin, visiting Professor in several foreign universities, Dr. h.c. University of Sevilla, director of the Review Diritto Romano Attuale, codirector of the complete works of P. Bonfante. S.T.T.L.

The last February, the Professor Alberto Burdese died in Padova. Graduate in Law for the University of Torino, under the guide of Prof. Grosso, was assisting in the chair of Roman Law in this University from the academic course 1947-1948, obtaining the professorship in 1952, at 25 year-old age. Their teaching has exercised in the universities of Camerino, Ferrara and Padova where he has been holder of the chair of Institutions of Roman Law from 1954 to 1999, Director of the Institute of Roman Law, History of the right and ecclesiastical Lawt, from 1984 to 1998 and Dean of the Law Faculty from the year 1995. Also, among other many merits, the Professor Burdese was member of the Advisory Committee of Law of the University National Council, member of the Ordinary Committee of the Law Facultyl of Verona, Medal of gold in the School of the Culture and of the Art and in 1996 it was invested as Dr. h. c. for the University Complutense of Madrid. Insigne Maestro di studi giuridici e Uomo straordinario per qualità personali, in words of the Professor Garofalo, he has wrotten more than 200 publications on varied topics of general theory of the law, Roman public and private law, private law etc. Rest in pace.

The international visualization of our Review continues increasing. We already gave news of the presence of RIDROM in DOAG or DIALNET, besides being indexed in LATINDEX, ISOC and DICE. Now the International Review of Roman Law has been incorporate to InterClassica (http://interclassica.um.it is / ridrom). InterClassica is a website dedicated to the old Greek and Roman world. In InterClassica they have incorporated the data of our Magazine and a link to the diverse numbers and the articles (abstract and full text). Thank you to InterClassica to contribute to the diffusion of our researchs.

RIDROM has also been incorporate to Spanish databases, as ISOC (http://bddoc.csic.es:8080/index.jsp) and especially DICE (http://dice.cindoc.csic.es/). DICE has the objective of facilitating the knowledge and the consultation from some of the editorial characteristics of the Spanish magazines of Humanities and Social Sciences more closely bound to the quality, relative to so qualitative aspects as the mechanisms of evaluation of originals to publish, the opening of the management organs and address, the presence of diverse institutions not linked to the entity publisher among the published contributions, the diffusion of the magazines in databases multidisciplinares and specialized of international prestige or the type of presence in Internet. DICE it is fruit of an agreement of collaboration between the Superior Council of Scientific Researchs (CSIC) and the National Agency of Evaluation of the Quality and Acreditation (ANECA). ANECA uses this database like reference of quality of the Spanish publications, in its processes of faculty's evaluation. It is also used by other Agencies, as ANEP or CNEAI.

The Hungarian Academy of the Sciences and the University Eötvös Loránd of Budapest has organized a Symposium titled "Roman Law, Comparative Law, European Law" that will take place November 8 in Budapes.

Andavira Publisher starts, under the direction of the romanista Prof. Dr. Ramón P. Rodríguez Montero, the international collection "Science and Juridical Thought". All those authors that want to publish their works in the Collection will remit the same ones in paper and CD, or by mail electronic, together with their personal data, administrative university condition or professional and a descriptive brief curriculum of their investigating activity and publications to the address of postal mail of the Law school of University of A Coruña, to the attention of the Director of that, or in their case, to the address of the Director's electronic mail. Once received the original correspondent, you will proceed to send it to two specialists, belonging to different Universitys of that of the author, of the thematic Area to the one that corresponds the received investigation work, with the purpose that these emit their mediating valuation a reasoned brief report, in a term of time non superior to two months. In attention to the total group of emitted reports, the decision for the publication of the work and the Collection, it will be taken by the advisory international scientific Committee.

Last March 23, the "Ursicino Álvarez" International Prize, in the second edition, was delivered in the headquarters of the Colegio Notarial of Madrid, which relapsed into the Prof. Dr. Mario Bretone and in the Prof. Dr. Dieter Nörr. The above mentioned International Prize is delivered by the Foundation Seminar of Roman law Ursicino Álvarez and in the first edition relapsed in the Prof. Dr. Juan de Churruca and in the Illustrious Notary Ángel Martínez Sarrión.

From November 11 to last November 13, there were celebrated the Days II on Basements of the European Law, organized by the Area of Roman law of the University of Alicante and directed by the Profa. Dra. Aránzazu Calzada. In the same ones they took part the Prof. Dr. Giuliano Crifò, Prof. Dr. Andrea Trisciuoglio, Prof. Dr. Giovanni Luchetti, Prof. Dr. Armando Torrent, Prof. Dr. Ricardo Panero, Prof. Dr. Antonio Díaz Bautista, Prof. Dr. César Rascón, Prof. Dr. Gustavo de las Heras, Prof. Dr. Luis Rodríguez Ennes, Prof. Dr. Alfonso Murillo and the Profa. Dra. Carmen Lopez Rendo.

Last April 22, the Foundation Juridical European Colloquium organized a Day with the topic " The Judge in Rome: functions and responsibility ", in that they informed the Profa. Dr. Margarita Fuenteseca, of the University of Vigo, and of the Prof. Dr. Carlo Venturini, of the University of Pisa.

The day October 29 died Pablo Fuenteseca, Catedrático de Derecho Romano in the University of La Laguna, Salamanca and Autónoma of Madrid. In the University of Santiago de Compostela he obtained the Licenciatura en Derecho, with extraordinary Prize, and the Licenciatura en Filosofía y Letras. Extraordinary prize of Doctorate for the University Central of Madrid. He was a scholarship holder for the Istituto di diritto Romano and for the Alexander von Humbolt Foundation, Cruz de Honor de San Raimundo de Peñafort, Honorary Professor of the Law School of the University of Vigo, Medal of Silver of Galicia and Academic of the Royal Academy of Legislation and Jurisprudence, was possessing numerous publications and prestigious disciples.

It has been developed in the Law school of the Karl-Franzens-Universität, in the city of Graz (Austria), the 25 and 26 of May of 2009, the first encounter of Network Leda, the net that unites universities and studious of diverse countries of Europe and of Latin America, and that it is in charge of of the promotion of studies and investigations of Roman Law and history of the romanistic tradition, as well as of history of the political ideas, of history of the mentalities (with matter it indexes the women and the relationships among the sexes).

February 20 2009 took place, in Eötvös Loránd Universität of Budapest, the fifth Convention of Hungarian romanists, in which participated eminent romanists and civilists of diverse countries.

XIV CONGRESO IBEROAMERICANO DE DERECHO ROMANO

The XIth International Congress and the XIVth Latin-American Congress of Roman law was celebrated successfully in Lisbon on the 4th, February 5 and 6, 2009 organized by the Facultade de Direito da Universidade de Lisboa. The general topic of the Congress treated on " Sistema Contractual Romano: de Roma ao Direito actual".

The Galician Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation has taken as an unanimity the decision to nominate An Academician the romanist Antonio Fernandez de Buján, Catedrático of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. The obligatory speech will be answered by the romanist Luis Rodríguez Ennes, Catedrático of the Universidad de Vigo.

The RIDROM appears among the reviews gathered in DIALNET (the most important Web of diffusion of the scientific production of Spain) which articles can be consulted directly from this database.

The Web RECOLECTA (recollector of opened science) is a joint initiative of the Network of University Libraries (REBIUN) and the Spanish Foundation for the Science and the Technology (FECyT) that has as principal aim promote the publication in access opened of the works of research that develop in the different academic spanish institutions.
